Thoughts after calvin college

Its now after calvin college which was a large conference of exchange students. Some were about to leave the country on an exchange, some students were finishing their exchange here, and some, just came back from the exchange. It was exciting meeting everyone, and especially exciting getting to know everyone. I had learned some great things about what to expect from Lima, Peru. From others experiences, and I am absolutely thrilled to leave the country now.

For example, two of the returning exchange students I met helped me better understand how to prepare for my trip to Lima, Peru. They were very insightful, they knew great places to shop, dance, visit, and most importantly knew the ins and outs of being safe and still have A LOT of fun along the way. I will have to blog more about these things and the specifics(I'm sure all that I am writing seems vaugue.) once I am in Lima doing these things.

Something interesting as a side note. I had a recent development occur and my host family will not be back in South America until August 9th, and I am scheduled to arrive the 28th so right now I am in the midst of trying to resolve this discrepancy. I guess I'll just have to see how things end up.

Early Departure

Well I found out today that I am leaving July 28th. That definitely was not what I was planning on. I thought I would leave between the 15th and 21st of August. I guess not! Not to worry I'm still VERY excited to leave. I just have a lot to do before I leave. I was originally planning on having more time to work and plan my going away party but hey! What a pleasant surprise I had :)

So I just came back to this, like 5 hours after I started the blog. I kinda just up and left. oops. well I'll try to finish my thought. actually no. I'll just post something more later. I'm exhausted. And I'm getting a cold :( even with all the great news. oh well. until next time!

Visa Application

Well I went to finish up my visa application by being finger printed... Didn't really work out how I thought it might. I don't really know what I was expecting but my prints were recorded digitally and I am assuming will be mailed to me? I don't really know in what form or how but all I know is I'm waiting on my finger prints to arrive in 5-10 days.

After which I will finally be able to mail in my paper work(Visa application) to my travel agent and hopefully it will make its way to the consulate of Peru(hope it's soon...)

As of now I am graduated from high school(a year early even and it still felt like forever) and hopefully preparing myself for much more to come :) first off though, I have to work. I dislike my work but it's a necessary evil. I suspect I can put up with my job for 3 more months. After all being a cashier doesn't bother me, but being forced to service people who behave as if they are 5 does. hahahaha. oh well.

Thoughts and feelings before Peru

It has been suggested that I start blogging prior to departure by several of my Rotary officers, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Right now, I'm just about to get out of school, 20 days left I think is all. After that I will have graduated and will be well on my way to Peru. sorta. There are quite a few things that must happen before that.

I still do not know where in Peru I will be going, but I don't very much care where I'll be or who I'm with I trust the Rotary Organization and as long as some one is there outside customs I'll be okay.

So far I'm just trying to make it through school, my classes are so easy and yet it's killing me just going to school. I'm pathetic. oh well, so be it. I on the other hand do have an exciting summer to look forward to! sadly, it looks like I will have to sell my car once school is out in order to raise money for my trip(and to lower the family insurance rates). Absolutely tragic I know.

As for the trip itself, I'm thrilled, I might not know or speak much spanish, however, that will occur while I am there. I could leave if some one asked me to pack my stuff and go tomorrow. I wouldn't have any problems with it at alll! ^_^ can't wait!

Work time!

I have about 20 minutes before I have to work. This is in fact my (more or less) official blog for peru. I'll post a link to my facebook shortly.

unfortunately, I must get ready for work.

I dislike work particularly on school days :-P
